Extinction and blood Collection

Hello. Did you know that only 3% of Canadians Donate?? What is wrong with us? For normally being so good to our fellow man, we are ridiculously sad when it comes to blood donation. On the flip side however, there are also so many restrictions now on donating blood that the blood donations have lost their primary donating group. (The military) - This is due to them being overseas for extended periods of time, yet one would assume that they are absolutely one of the groups that require the blood. (Next to cancer, burn and surgery patients)

I am writing this in hope that some of you will decide to donate. If you go during the week, and in Halifax they have a shuttle to pick you up so that you can do it at lunch time. So really why not? Lunch time is such a quiet time to go and donate blood as well. The lines are basically non-existent, and honestly it doesn't hurt. You feel a sting and that is it...and to be truthful...the lady who jabs your finger at the beginning to check your iron is the one I am scared of...something about her reminds me of the diabetes checks my grandfather used to impose upon us. Ha Ha. Truly tho, my finger tip was bruised after this last time, and my arm was fine. Go Figure huh?

Anyways Resident Evil: Extinction. My boyfriend and I recently went to see this movie for his birthday. I am the resident evil fan, he is also a fan, but more just a fan of Milla I think. By the way she is Due in November and I for one, am extremely excited to see pictures.

Returning to resident Evil, extinction it was amazing!! I will wait a little bit longer before openly discussing this so as to not ruin it for anyone, but suffice it to say that I enjoyed this quite a bit. One or two parts were a bit much, but overall it was great. Please go and see it so that we can discuss it.

Ah Life is Good but I am oh so tired. :P

Hello everyone.

Yes life is good, but yes I am very tired. I have tomorrow off for my scheduled extra off, and then Monday is my day to go brides dress shopping with my sister. :) So no work again until Tuesday. Not a bad thing I guess. However it all depends upon how many movies my significant other has to see this weekend for the Atlantic Film Festival before it wraps up.

Also of note, tomorrow or rather late tonight Resident Evil: Extinction is out. I am not certain if the hype will have been worth it. I sure hope it will be. :P Anyways, I don't have too much right now...but if anyone goes to see the movie tonight...you could always leave me a comment about whether you liked it or not. No spoilers please...just yes you did, or no you didn't.

Thanks

*Sigh* Still waiting...

I know I know...I am impatient, but come on..... It has almost been a week why isn't the computer here yet??

On another more positive note, my boyfriend and I have recently purchased cellphones and now have our very own cell phone packages. I am slightly excited as this means that we can talk to each other during the day and can now make plans that don't involve going home first. Yay for Cell phones. Also, with him being in school, it is nice for him to be able to check in if he has to stay and do something at school, or if I am not home when he gets home to be able to call and ask me to pick something up.

All in all it is so far very much appreciated. Although, I do believe that my poor cat is not enjoying being tormented into posing for our cameras. HA Ha. So hopefully there will be a computer by Monday or Tuesday. I will let you know what is going on of course the good person that I am. ;)

Talk to you all again very soon.

Anxiously Anticipating the Arrival of the New 24" imac!!

Hi All,

As the title says, my household is currently waiting on the arrival of the new and "hopefully" impressive 24", 2.4 GH Dual Core Processors, upgraded to 2GB RAM, and up to 500 GB HD. Whoot. Whoot. This should be fairly exciting! :D At the very least we will be able to burn off our home videos from past trips and the like which will be exciting, as sadly my poor Toshiba laptop is just not capable. Although, for a laptop with very little memory, ram or will to live...and being a couple years old...it has survived well enough.

The new computer will have everything I need. Boys what I could do with a TB of Data though. ;) Maybe a future upgrade...Hmmmm
Anyways as soon as it gets here and we play around with it for a bit I will let you know what I think...seeing as I am a PC user and have only ever used Macs occasionally. (We shall see...hey, if I end up liking it...then that's great...but at least my bf will be able to use his video making software. It would surely die if it were installed on my poor laptop. :P)

See you all soon. Anyone with any opinions on the imac 24", 2.4 can of course post them here. I love hearing it. Thanks.

Comments on...The Education of Little Tree

Wow. That's how I will start off. ;) Well to begin with...I just watched this movie called the "education of little tree", I mean Just because I am someone that likes to do things immediately afterwards. I don't want the tamed down reaction that comes from thinking over ones emotions that were felt during the viewing of the movie.

Here is the synopsis as listed on the rotten tomatoes website:

"The compassionate tale of 8-year-old Little Tree, an orphaned youth whose sojourn at his grandparents' backwoods Smoky Mountains cabin sparks a legacy of learning about his Cherokee roots and the oppressive government that seeks to assimilate him. Based on Forrest Carter's controversial novel."

Now that in itself doesn't tell you a great deal as it was more the acting than the plot that got me.

We will start with who the grandparents that were cast:
James Cromwell - This man always gets me.
Tantoo Cardinal - Another huge role would of course be in "Legends of the Fall"

The grandparents were an amazing casting. The couple had the right vibe for a couple of their age, and given the things that they had seen...it was excellent having these two. (I am slightly partial when it comes to them, but side by side for their roles...I was very happy with the selection that was made)

Next is John. John was played by Graham Greene who is always an inspiring actor to watch...movies such as Dances with wolves, or in thunderheart. His character was also very well created for this movie. I have to say however that I had 2 favorite scenes with his character. One was when he was in the church and as the hussy in the front on the church said she had been fornicating with all of these different gentlemen (Testify day @ church) HAhahahaa...and as she was going to list the next man and all of these men are running out of the church before she can actually say their names...well then the frog that Little Tree put into John's pocket makes a croak...just one...so it could have been from a man clearing his throat. I died laughing because he initially looked so sober...and then all of a sudden...he BURSTS out laughing in the church while all the disapproving whatever you want to call thems look on. AHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA...I was laughing so hard I was crying in my seat. Hahahahaa.
The second was when Grampa and John walked Little Tree to the village to send him off to the school. He did this part so quietly...he just grabbed Little Tree's other hand and they started walking off...no words...just he grabs his hand and starts walking. Excellent...I think you have to see it to understand why I am making a big deal...and even then, maybe you wouldn't get what I am saying. :P

Then finally we get to Little Tree himself...played by Joseph Ashton. For such a small boy...or for how small he looked...to do as well as he did with his roles/his lines and to be the main character is a big responsibility...but one that this young man met quite admirably. I would have to say that Grampa, Grandma and John were all preferred by me over Little Tree, but that's just because I felt that as the movie was about him, I expected him to do a good job...but it was mostly Grandma and Grampa that made me bawl..yes...bawl. Just some of the looks remind me of some of my older family member's looks. It just hits you and then all of sudden you are sitting on the futon wiping tears from the corner of your eyes because you just realized that you are crying. Tsk Tsk,.... You big sissy You.

Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie...I am going to go and see if I can find the part about john in the church again on youtube. Here's to hoping!

Thanks for listening.

Let's clear the air about one thing....

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to clear the air about one particular subject that I have been seeing quite a bit about lately.

Domestic Violence

We are talking about fists here people.

I strongly believe and there are many who do not agree with me...but that if your significant other hits you...that's it. Game over. Do not pass GO and do not collect $200. Just grab your stuff and get the heck out. No...no, there's no need to talk about anything. Don't baby one more chance..Your ass is gone. There are more than enough fish in the sea ladies and MEN to allow this to happen to yourself...

I understand the problems involved with this having to be done as I have a girlfriend who had to do it while running from the crazy man, and trying to take care of her 2 kids...BUT I am extremely proud of her for not returning to him. There is absolutely no excuse for someone to lay their hands upon their significant other. Oh she was nagging you?? Well maybe she was, but you don't touch her for it. Same goes for all those crazy woman out there throwing things at their husband's heads, or swinging frying pans at them because they don't say things you like. Come on people have we lost all sense? You should be with someone because they are your mate...your closest friend...completely trust...etc...you know those kinds of things....soon as someone swings at my head I am gone and if they continued to harass me, I'd be calling the cops or the male family members to issue a verbal option...Bugger off or get beat down.

Anyways I read an article today in which it was talking about a particular couple and how the man in question had gone and hit his wife and didn't stop until she had to be rushed to an ER.

Do you know what comment I read that followed that?? Brace yourselves for it!

People were going onto the blog {Not a lot of people thank god... But enough that I felt it necessary to create this post} and saying "They hope that the couple is able to reconcile and continue with their loving union, because in the eyes of Christ....Ya DA Ya DA Ya DA!!!!!"

I FLIPPED....My post said something similar to "HOLD UP...did you just say...that even though he beat her down and sent her to the hospital she should forgive him and go about their lives???? OH NO YOU DIDN'T!!!"

Anyways, domestic abuse against one's partner, children, etc and ET AL...is completely out of place with what a family is supposed to be. Do not tell me it instills discipline. Come on people...I was spanked as a child and I am fine. There is a difference between a quick spank and BEATING a child. DO not tell me there is no difference. There is. I have seen both, and when I see someone BEATING their child...I step in and stop it. But if they are spanking them because the child bit another child or something stupid like that...COME ON PLEASE ...Really.

Of course as always feel free to comment, I am more than willing to defend my position and I feel justified in my position. But like I said, comments are more than welcome. :D Everyone have a great day!!

Fearless

Every once in a while people get this feeling that comes over them...I like to call it feeling fearless. You feel that nothing can stop you, nothing can bring you down, but there are always those that will try.
Well...I like to think that I feel fearless at least once a week. I wouldn't say that I feel like absolutely no one and nothing can stop me...it's more that I feel that nothing I do can stop me. I feel as if I can overcome myself and to make it to whatever goals and end results I have set for myself.

I am someone that loves to have clearly defined goals. These have to be things that are set by myself and that I have to personally strive very hard towards accomplishing...now they may only seem like something small to everyone else...but to me, if I finish these tasks, no matter how large, I am happy.

Case in point...
1. I wanted to move out of my parent's house - I am fairly independent and this just had to happen. Don't get me wrong. I love my parents very much...but I am too much like them in some ways to live with them. ;) Muahahah

2. Go to work for the government - this was really a 2 part goal as it involved selecting a schooling option, and then working my way into the government. So I chose the most likely path to get me into the chosen field and now I work for the government full time. (One of the, or possibly even the youngest FULL Time Government employee - won't last long I am sure. LoL)

3. Currently I am working on two/3 goals, but I generally never make these fully public to anyone until I have completed them, but I will say that 1 - involves my banking and plans for the future (Basically getting my finances sorted out), and 2 - involves, and as stupid as it sounds, working on some new age beliefs and activities. (not going into details here as I do not want to be considered loopy until after I have finished this second one. ;) ) and 3, perhaps writing...perhaps not...I'll never tell. :P Unless i want you to buy my book in which case I might drop a hint or two in my blog. LOL.

4. Future goals may turn into family, car, house, better job, but for right now I have put my goals onto the smaller ones mentioned above to ensure that I do not spend too much time on my goals, and not enough in assisting G with his. (I looking forward to helping him in anyway I can, although I think I may pretty much be useless, besides as someone to bounce ideas off of. LOL)

Anyways, i kind of got off on a tangent here as I think I may have mentioned this somewhere else on the blog. OOPSie. :P

O ya, Graham thinks I am crazy so I will list my own personal belief on here:

Family before friends, friends before strangers, nova scotians before the rest of Canada, Canada before other countries and I think you get the picture. ;) (That is the order in which I defend and love things - as a general rule, not always 100% applicable as I have a couple friends that I would fight with anyone even family over...:P ;) NOT MANY mind you...but a couple. ;) And the only other time the above does not apply is when someone has done something really wrong, in which case, I would probably be the first one to admit that the person was wrong and even perhaps to get really mad. :P

Okay enough weird talk for today. :P I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend, I know that I sure am. :D
